It will include low lights and special sound monitors that will flash when a neonatal unit becomes too noisy for the babies. When my daughter was in the NICU I was astonished by how loud it was in there, even at night. They had loud alarms going off almost constantly. Every time I held her and accidentally disconnected a wire the noise would make her jump and shudder. The project hopes to complete by the end of 2009.
